At this 2-day course, you will gain an understanding of the Scrum Master’s role in a SAFe business.

Unlike traditional Scrum Master training that focuses on the fundamentals at team level, you will at the SAFe Scrum Master course learn more about the Scrum Master’s role in the entire company and will prepare the attendees for successfully planning and executing a Program Increment (PI). You will learn how to scale agile development in multiple teams, how Scrum can be deployed to the rest of the company, and how you can plan and execute an iteration in the agile team.

As a Scrum Master, you must be able to:
• Describe Scrum at an agile company
• Facilitate Scrum events
• Facilitate the team through an iteration
• Contribute to the execution of programs in an Agile Release Train
• Drive continuous improvements
• Coach agile teams
• Support a DevOps implementation

At the course, you will learn how to create a good team by using Servant Leadership and a coaching approach. In addition to this, you will learn how to guide and coach the team to deliver a maximum business value in a scaled agile setup. A SAFe 5 Scrum Master (SSM) certificate signals that you can perform the Scrum Master role in a SAFe environment, which will make you valuable for all organisations that are using or considering to implement SAFe.

The course addresses persons who wish to learn about the Scrum Master role and about SAFe all at once. This is an obvious course to attend if you are or is going to be Scrum Master for a team in an Agile Release Train. You may work as Scrum Master today, but never obtained a certification. Or you are working in an agile team but is now going to or wish to take the Scrum Master role.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the course, regardless of experience. The following prerequisites are, however, recommended:
• Knowledge about the agile concepts and principles
• Knowledge about Scrum, Kanban and Extreme Programming (XP)
• Work experience with software and hardware development processes

Approx. 3 weeks prior to the course, you will receive a welcoming mail with instructions on how to prepare best. Preparations are not mandatory, but we recommend that you spend a couple of hours or more, depending on your current knowledge.
After the course, you have 30 days for taking the exam, and during this period we recommend minimum one day’s revision.

The course is a 2 days’ intensive workshop without lodging. Please note that evening assignments may occur.

You are expected to participate actively at the course, which includes group assignments of varying duration, where you will have the opportunity to discuss and share ideas and examples.

• Characterizing the role of the Scrum Master
• Experiencing Program Increment planning
• Facilitating Iteration execution
• Finishing the Program Increment
• Coaching the Agile team

The course will give you access to the SAFe® 5 Scrum Master (SSM) exam, which is a multiple-choice test that you can take on-line up to 30 days after the course. After the course, you will have access to taking an exam as well as a test exam on the SAFe community platform. Once you have passed the exam, you will become a certified SAFe® 5 Scrum Master and will receive a digital diploma as well as a digital badge. You must have attended both days on the course to qualify for the exam.

Our accredited teachers are experienced within counselling, coaching and management in agile teams, programs and portfolios. They combine practical experience with great knowledge about and an in-depth understanding of methods and theories. The course takes place in Danish and the materials are in English.
